Overview
A question on reconciliation was posed to Sudanese women and men from various regions (Khartoum, Darfur [South/West], Kordofan, Eastern Sudan, Northern, and Al-Jazeera) to gauge feelings of anger and injustice, as well as to explore their perspectives on potential solutions to end the destructive war that has affected more than half of Sudan’s states.
It is worth noting that the survey participants included 18 young men and women, comprising politicians, members of resistance committees, human rights activists, peacebuilding and conflict resolution practitioners, advocates against hate speech, and specialists in transitional justice and national reconciliation.
The paper raised the question of transitional justice, revealing different dimensions of reconciliation linked to geographic regions and accumulated injustices. The paper represents merely the beginning of posing the difficult questions our society must face, accepting the answers no matter how challenging, and collectively reflecting on the journey we often avoid.
